Safe chemistry, built-in monitoring

Every battery we install uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry — far more thermally stable than older lithium types, with no cobalt and a long cycle life. Each has a battery management system constantly monitoring temperature, voltage and charge.

Extra fire-safety features

Several batteries we install add further fire-safety features — the FoxESS CQ7, for example, includes built-in aerosol fire suppression and an IP65 enclosure. A home battery must be installed by a licensed electrician to AS/NZS 5139, alongside the wiring rules (AS/NZS 3000) and the inverter standard (AS/NZS 4777). The standard sets practical safety rules: batteries must not go inside bedrooms or other habitable rooms, must keep clear of windows, exits and certain appliances, and need proper ventilation, clearances and signage. We install to it as a matter of course, so the installation is genuinely safe for the long haul.

  Fred installed a Sigenergy battery system with a DC EV charger at our home in Brisbane, and I'd happily recommend him.

He came out for a site visit, and I had a detailed proposal the same evening. What stood out was his honesty. Instead of upselling, he told me I didn't need to replace my existing solar panels yet, and that I could add them later to the sigenergy inverter if I wanted to.

When I asked to move the batteries into the garage so we could charge the car there, and to add a larger gateway, inverter and DC charger, Fred called me to talk through the options before sending a revised quote. He was quick to respond and easy to reach the whole way through, and he never pushed me. The installation was seamless and the Battery has been working flawlessly since the day it was installed.

Fred spent 2 hours in setting up the app for my and explained all the details and how to use it. Three weeks since the installation and use of this battery system and no issues at all.

  I'd like to recommend EnergyGate and Fred. Fred was the only solar installer interested in doing a site visit.
I have  two rooftops that were suitable but I wasn't sure how they all could be connected.
Fred came up with a plan of 9.5kW of PV and a GoodWe 15kW ESA all in one with initially 32kW of storage in my garage which is next to my switchboard. Fred Installed
a GoodWe 8kW grid tie inverter with 9kW of PV on my carport. This inverter has been AC coupled with the all in one. This system was installed in September 2026 and is located in South East Queensland.
The energy input into my batteries and grid has been pretty amazing and I soon relised that I could  easily charge up to 50kW of Batteries. I talked to Fred and he arranged for these to be  installed a couple of weeks later.
The SEMS plus app is easy to use.
Fred was easy to communicate with and the system install went smoothly. We are very happy with the final result.

What is the payback time on a retrofit battery?

It depends on your usage, how much solar you currently export for small credits, your tariff, and the rebate at the time. A battery makes the strongest sense for households with high evening usage and plenty of daytime surplus. We give realistic, conservative numbers for your circumstances and will tell you honestly if it is not yet worthwhile.

Do I qualify for the battery rebate if I already have solar?

Yes. Having existing solar does not disqualify you. The rebate is about the battery being an approved product installed by an accredited installer to standard, with one rebate per eligible address under current rules. We confirm your eligibility as part of the quote.

What does adding backup involve, and does it cost extra?

Backup means adding a gateway or backup sub-board and wiring it to the circuits you want kept on, which is extra hardware and labour over a standard battery install. It is worth it if you experience outages or simply want the peace of mind. We quote it as a clear option so you can decide.

Will my switchboard need upgrading to add a battery?

Sometimes. A modern board with spare capacity and proper safety switches may simply take the new protected circuits. An older or full board often needs an upgrade to add a battery, and especially backup, safely and compliantly. We check your switchboard as part of the quote and tell you honestly, never an upgrade you do not need and never skipping one the rules require.

How do I know if I have enough surplus solar to justify a battery?

The clearest sign is a meaningful daily export figure on your bill or in your monitoring. That surplus is what a battery stores instead of selling it cheaply. If you export very little because your solar is small or already self-consumed, we may suggest adding panels alongside the battery. We assess your actual data rather than guess.

Will my current inverter work with a new battery, or do I need to replace it?

Sometimes your existing inverter can stay and we add a battery beside it. Other times, especially with older or basic inverters, switching to a hybrid makes more sense. The deciding factors are its age, type and capacity. We assess it honestly and tell you whether keeping or replacing it is the smarter spend, rather than bolting a new battery onto tired equipment.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar system?

In most cases, yes. There are two common routes: add a separate battery with its own inverter alongside your existing solar, or replace your current inverter with a hybrid one that runs both panels and battery. Which suits you depends on the age and type of what you already have. We inspect it and recommend the option that genuinely fits.
